For someone interested in Indian history there are visits to grand palaces and forts in Jodhpur and Jaipur and to the majestic Taj Mahal at Agra during the first leg of the tour.

Chattra Sagar is a haven for birds with a check list of over 200 species. It is surrounded by pristine wetlands, grasslands and farms.

Keoladeo National Park is one of the great ornithological wetland wonders of the world.

Jim Corbett National Park, in the Himalayan Foothills,it is home to over 600 species of avifauna, apart from its fabulous wealth of wildlife including the Asiatic elephants, tigers, bears and leopards

CHHATRA SAGAR, NIMAJ

Situated midway off the Jaipur to Jodhpur highway, Chhatra Sagar is neither a fairy-tale palace, nor an impregnable fortress imbued with legends of love and braver but 11 sumptuous Royal tents facing a lake bordered by greenery in the heart of Rajasthan.

Today the Lake is surrounded by lush green fields of wheat, mustard, cotton and chillies and vast grazing pastures, this hundred – year old reservoir with a periphery of about 10 kilometers is an ideal destination for nature lovers and a perfect getaway from the chaotic city life. Migratory birds have also discovered the paradise ducks, pelicans and cranes frolic in the waters of the lake while parrots, eagle owls and hummingbirds dance in the blue vastness of the sky.

 


MUD FORT, KUCHESAR

The Mud Fort of Kuchesar was built in the mid 18 century. The fort tells of the chequered history of the jats who vied wit the Sikhs, Marathas, Rohillas, Rajputs, French adventurers and the East India Company to fill the vacuum of the declining Mughal power. The fort is surrounded by wide moat dug to create ramparts. It commands a beautiful view of the fertile Gangetic plains with sugarcane fields and mango orchards. The Holy Ganges is 24 kms away.
